Mondir is one of the minor characters in the series. He is a Herder of the Clan.

In Ratha's Creature he's described as gray-brown. In Ratha's Courage he's described as light brown (but this is in the midst of a fast-paced fight). He's said to have the heaviest bones and most powerful shoulders among the Named, making him the second-best fighter among the Clan after Cherfan (who still surpasses him in size).

Ratha's Creature Edit

Mondir is still a cub when he was brought, along with Bira and another litterling, to observe the dabblebacks that Fessran was taking care of. His inexperience, due young age, brings him to question what the stud of the herd was doing with one of his mares, causing amusement of both Fessran and Ratha. (He gets equally roasted in the upcoming graphic novel).

Clan Ground Edit

He's just briefly mentioned by Ratha and it's revealed that Mondir lost a littermate during an Un-Named raid.

Ratha and Thistle-chaser Edit

He's not seen or mentioned in the book.

Ratha's Challenge Edit

He's not seen or mentioned in the book.

Ratha's Courage Edit

Mondir is seen sharing the herder's duties with Drani at the beginning of the book. Later he's involved in the fight against the New Singer's renegades and helps Cherfan in the fight. After the first defeat and the retreat of the Named, he volunteers to find Quiet Hunter. Ashon and Bundi that got separated from the main group of males. He manages to find Ashon and Bundi, in addition to Mishanti; however, he never finds Quiet Hunter. Later, Mondir volunteers to help Cherfan care for the cubs. Mondir appears to make repetitive jokes about the gluttony of Cherfan, while the larger male tells that Mondir that he "opens his mouth too much," but the arguing between them seems to only be in good fun. Mondir will take part in the following raid against the enemy (when Ratha was captured) and finally in the final attack with the heardbeasts.

○Meoran tried to force Mondir to go into herding training in place of Ratha. However, Thakur offers to train both, and Meoran can decide. Despite this, Meoran doesn't decide and lets them both be herders.
